It's A Dog's Life

Saturday, January 26, 2008

Well, I had a real good and fun day today, I'll tell you what. Me and my guardian went to Town Lake for some good times of throwing the ball and me chasing it. I also jumped real high a couple of times, and I climbed up real high in a tree too. I was actually going for a squirrel but it got away. Sometimes it happens.

This is a photo of me waiting patiently for Lindy to take me to the park. You can see that I'm already ready to go.

These are some great shots of me with my ball. Lindy throws it and I run until I get it. Then, I take it back to Lindy and she throws it again.

And here are some other shots of me on my great and fun day:

This is a shot of me sitting on a tree that fell down. It was a nice place to stop and rest. I feel that I look good in this shot.

Lindy told me that I have very good concentration on account of me looking only at the ball and never looking at anything else. I do keep my big brown eyes on the prize, that's for sure.

At one point Lindy looked up towards the sky, which is where The Guardian lives, and she said, "O that I might have such devotion as this little dog." I am glad that Lindy knows that I am trying, trying with all my dog might, to point her to The Guardian. It's hard doing missionary work among the humans, though. They are not as suited to divinity as the rest of creation. I don't know why. It's just hard for them.

This is me on the tree again. I drove on that road that you see in the background. Really.

This is a picture that shows how I hang my very long tongue out of my mouth to help me cool off. It actually works pretty good too.

On the way home I told Lindy she could stop at the Half-Price Book Store. It's her birthday next week and I knew she would want some nice books. It's the least I could do.

Anyway, she got a couple of nice books and a real tasty treat for me too!

Here's a picture of me at the Half-Price Book Store.
They have treats for humans and for dogs but dogs are not allowed to go inside of it. Not sure why.

These are photos of me on my way home from all my good times and everything.

In this photo you can see the town where I live. It's called Austin. And I go there all the time with Lindy. The building we live in is a lot shorter than the ones you see there in the DOWN town. Me and Lindy don't live DOWN town. We just live in the regular town.

In this one I am just enjoying being in the car and relaxing after a hard day of running and playing with Lindy. You can see that Lindy took the top down for me so that I could feel of the wind blowing through my big ears. She's nice like that.

You probably noticed that I am not wearing my new coat in these pictures. It was too hot today. Over 70 human degrees! But, I did wear my good looking gay pride bandana. Of course, as a gay dog I don't have to contend with discrimination. Dogs, pigs, even cats, are smart enough to know that discrimination based on one's sexual orientation is despicable and against God's law. Only humans engage in such nonsense and I think THE Guardian is probably not too happy with them about it either. Humans would be much happier, and probably have less wars and stuff, if they would each just be what they were created to be and stop worrying so much about what kinds of sins other humans are doing. That's what I think anyway and I AM a pretty smart dog, I'll tell you what.

I hope that you had a big fun day and that if it's not cold enough for a pretty coat you at least get to wear your gay pride bandana.

Love,

  • Great pics from Town Lake! My human promised me that we would go to town lake today but the museum just called her and it needs her to come over today. That means she will spend the day with the museum instead of me. I'm not too happy about it. At least she promises to leave the blinds open and one window open so that I can see and smell everything outside on this beautiful day.

Next time she goes to halfpricebooks I'll have her get a treat for you. She always brings one home for me and they are my favorites.

    Have a super day today.

  • hey, don't have much time right now as I'm out of town, but wanted to say: Love love love the bandanna and I'll be back to read more a little later.

  • Well no wonder your guardian didn't call me for coffee. She had a very full day enjoying the beautiful weather with you Rowan.

Tiki & Chita went for a long walk with me and Mollie down the sidewalk of a winding boulevard on Saturday evening. I realize now that Chita needs a harness!! That goofy girl nearly got away from us twice.

  • Hi Ms. Liz. I hope Carley has fun drawing the picture.

I like the Half-Price Books Treats too Romeo. They are almost as good as my "vitamins."

I am glad you like my bandana Diane and I hope you have a fun time on your trip.

Yeah, Marianne, Lindy feels real bad about that. She is supposed to call several people and she really intends to call them too. But, when we talk about it, going to the lake just seems more important. We love you though.

    Love,

    Rowan

  • Oh Rowan, I have been off the blogs for a few days. I know that you and Lindy have been sending me some good thoughts because things seem to be going well.

    You are gorgeous.

I showed these photos of you to my stepdaughter Erica. She is 11 and loves dogs.

She thinks you are the coolest. I told her that it is true, you are!!

  • My daughter loves you too, Rowan. She's 7, and she's always asking me to show her new pictures of you. (Grendel, if you are reading this, she wants to see some more of you, too...)

Lindy has great taste in doggie duds. Thanks for sharing the lovely photos!

  • Rowan, my mama and I both think you look really handsome in your bandana! I'm glad you had such a good day at the park. I love to walk around in the park, enjoy the breeze, and see what I can find to sniff, but I think my ball and frisbee chasing days are over. When you are my age you'll want to take it easy too. Thanks for stopping by my mom's blog!

    Your friend,
    Amie

  • hey, tell us where we can get a bandanna like that!!!

By Blogger Diane M. Roth, at 8:30 PM

  • Rowan, I think that bandanna looks snazzy on you. You wear outfits really well. Glad you had a good romp.

I tried to say this the other day but I guess I forgot to put in the word verification thingy so my woof got swallowed in the computer. Woof!

  • You are definitely a very handsome dog, Rowan. Unfortunately, my guardian has been suffering from cedar fever lately and has not taken me on any long walks in a while. Oh, well...she did buy me a new collar that is very sparkly and green (my favorite color) Maybe we can get together for a dog play date soon while our guardians enjoy a beverage together. Have a great week and stay cool!

    Samantha

  • O Fran… you are always right. Me and Lindy have been asking The Guardian to lift up the light of Her countenance on you, I AM gorgeous, and the coolest too. We love you.

Dear Doxy, I am glad your granddaughter likes looking at all these photos of me in my very swell duds. Grendel is very pretty. I like seeing pictures of her too.

Dear Aime, I had a talk with Lindy about what this means and she said that we all have to do what we do at various times in our lives. As a pup, it’s my job to run a lot. When I am older, my very important jobs may be different like yours.

Diane, my guardian got my bandana a long time ago from a guy who was selling them before a parade of homos. It was near the United Nations building which, interestingly enough, does not seem to be doing much towards the unification of things. Anyway, she said you could probably get a newer one at your local gay/lesbian book store. Or, just give us a few days and we’ll send you one! Two Ns in bandanna? Who knew?

Thanks snazzy Paul. I wish I could play with you! WooF back buddy.

Samantha, you have to let your guardian stay inside where she can be protected from the allergies. I heard about your new green sparkly collar and I told Lindy I wanted one but she said it wasn’t good to be a fashion thief. I did get a new collar for Christmas which I haven’t worn yet. Lindy says we shouldn’t use more resources than we need but sometimes that is a fashion bummer. Hey did you see your guardian’s picture on my blog? She’s as famous as me now.

    Love,

    Rowan

  • Hey Rowan. Guess what? I got a new bandana today! It is black and has white skulls & crossbones all over it. I look like a real pirate when I wear it.

I'd rather wear my red one with the white hearts all over it until Valentine's Day, though. The nurses at the pet hospital made it for me. It's my favorite.

Hope you get some time at the lake this weekend. Apparently there's some "big game" going on Sunday. I think that means that all of the humans take us out for a giant game of "fetch" & "keep away" that day. Right?

By Anonymous Anonymous, at 6:57 PM

  • That's exactly right Romeo, a giant game of fetch and keep away.

    I like how you think!

By Blogger Lindy, at 5:18 AM

  • Dear Doxy, I am glad your granddaughter...

Haven't got one of *those* yet---though my Dear Friend has just learned he's going to be a grandfather. So maybe I'll get to play "grandma" soon! ;-)

By Blogger Wormwood's Doxy, at 6:33 AM

  • Uh...sorry Doxy.
    Rowan

  • I like the bandana, I think mom does too. I want one now because you look so cool in yours!
